War Memorial

If I should die think only this of me:
That there’s some corner of a foreign field
That is forever England

The Soldier by Rupert Brooke (1914)

There are 14 names from the First World War and three from the Second World War on the Thriplow War Memorial.

The photograph below was taken on 25th July 2018 after cleaning and rewriting of the Memorial.

A history of the War Memorial was written by Dr Bernard Meggitt in 2019. You can read the article in volume 27.3 of the Thriplow Journal.

Members of the Thriplow Society have researched the names of the fallen, in many cases aided by photographs and memories received from villagers. For example, you can read about Allan Skillings in volume 17.2

For a full list of the fallen see the Roll of Honour.
