Church Registers

We are very grateful to the Thriplow Society Archivist, Dr Shirley Wittering, for her work on the Church registers. Below is her description of the process and her thanks to the people who made it possible.

This transcription was made by typing the transcription 1538-1840 made by TPR Layng in 1970, and then transcribing records from 1840 to date from photocopies of the Original Registers. This later transcription was checked against the Bishop’s Transcripts to 1848. As always we must thank the dedicated staff of the Record Office in Cambridge for all their help, advice and never-failing support. We should also thank the staff of Cambridge University Library, where the Bishop’s Transcripts are deposited, and the incumbent and churchwarden’s of Thriplow parish for their permission to transcribe.
