Our annual soiree this year was held at Stoneyfield, Fowlmere, by courtesy of Mel and Jill Vinton.
45 of our members enjoyed a lovely evening in a beautiful cottage garden in a tranquil setting. It was a bit windy at times, but the rain stayed away. The lawn was laid out with round tables, each adorned with colourful tablecloth and a vase of fresh flowers. People chatted about politics, as it was election day, with a glass of wine or a fruit punch, putting the world to right. Finger buffet was served in an outhouse built by Mel from reclaimed wood. The building was quite amazing.
This was followed by a quiz, questions based on plants and quirky objects in the garden. Some were cryptic, it was quite a teaser.
Guests were fascinated with Jill’s collection of tortoises, all 30 of them, roaming around a fenced area of the garden. There was also a plant stall. The evening ended with a raffle.
It was a very sociable event enjoyed by all. Thank you, Mel and Jill.
