The weather was very kind to us when we set off to Elmstead Market. No sooner the coach dropped us off that the majority of people made a beeline to the café with its extensive range of cakes. This illustrates the social aspect of such trips. The nursery was very well laid out and plants were sectioned into their particular habitat, microclimate. Many of the unusual plants we saw as we walked through the garden were sold at the nursery. We experienced the different garden “rooms” that Alison mentioned in her talk, each one adapted to its natural growing conditions. It was evident throughout the garden that Beth’s designs were based on shape and texture.
On our return the coach looked like a mini nursery, with plants occupying many seats. We all had a very enjoyable time.
