The earliest reference to payments made for a school in Thriplow in the Churchwardens’ and Overseer’s accounts dates back to 1765.\u00a0 Before the present school was opened in 1863 there were at least two other schools – one was held in a cottage on Church Street and the other was a non-conformist school held in a building on Fowlmere Road that no longer exists.<\/p>\n
If you are interested in a member of your family’s attendance at the present Thriplow School you will be glad to know that the Society’s Archivist, Dr Shirley Wittering, is transcribing the registers into a searchable format which will be available in due course.<\/p>\n
